The Borghese Gallery is one of the most important collections of art of Italy. The property was built by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V ,at the beginning of the 17th century. In fact, the villa was villa suburbana, a villa just outside of the Roman walls.Cardinal Scipione was the responsible of the beginning of the collection of statues and paintings that, according to the interest of his days, included ancient Roman, Renaissance and contemporary masterpieces. Then, the Borghese family, continued to add paintings, statues and frescos for the next three hundred years.Today,the Borghese Gallery ,has one of the most spectacular collections of art that includes Raphael,Titian,Caravaggio,Bernini,Canova and much more, plus beautiful ancient Roman mosaic busts and statues.
